Day 3.

I had heaps of ideas for today. I was going to make playdough, or bubble mixture or marble milk.

But then, Archie and I peeked out the back this morning and Daddy was performing maintenance on the wormfarm. So of course Archie had to join in and help. And I had to get my camera and document the fun.

I’ve got it under control Daddy.

Mummy named them all Roderigo and Ferdinanda.

They look kind of tasty Dad, can I try one?

Just this one? It’s so wiggly.

Bye Bye wormies, see you tomorrow.

Day 2, 30 Days of Spring.

I wasn’t particulaly inspired today. Week day photos are rather limited to early in the morning, or in the evening. Unless I start taking photos of my colleagues. Or maybe some trains.

And the weather was shite all day. Blowing a gale, raining sideways and freezing. Not at all like the beautiful days we enjoyed at the end of April. I did get to finish the afternoon with a nice cup of tea and a chat with the lovely Tash.

I was lucky to have Tash to work with today. She and Archie were happy to embrace a few moments of frivolity with the help of some wheels…

Tash was all too happy to give Archie some trike riding assistance,

and found something more exciting than the Wiggles to steal Archie’s attention:

Here she is introducing him to Rage against the Machine and Archie can’t understand why Tashie keeps switching the music off. Turning it back on is even more exciting than the steering wheel.

I was also inspired by Tony’s wildflower photos from his days “up North(ish)” and I am more determined to seek out fields of daisies one weekend soon.  I need a dose of WA desert.

30 Days of Spring!

So, it turns out that I haven’t quite been able to manage a 365 day project. Instead, inspired by a 30 days of Summer project I am going to try a 30 days of Spring project.

Archie and i had a slow start this morning and amongst other things, Archie made sure that Makka Pakka was adequately nappied before leaving the house.

These were taken inside with a flash.  It was a bright sunny morning, but I couldn’t get enough light in the room even with the curtains open.

It is supposed to rain for the next few days so I’ll try to get some moody days of Spring.

Pre Spring Fever

This week the weather has been mostly gorgeous and I am inspired to some pre Spring decorating.

I have hung string lines along Archie’s wall and the hall to display artwork, cards, polaroids and anything else that takes my fancy.

We took the opportunity today to go outside and play with some noisy toys on the front lawn.

A long weekend is never long enough…

Last weekend was the Foundation Day long weekend in WA. We took Friday off and headed down to the south coast to Walpole and Denmark.

I love this area. There is so much to do; gorgeous beaches and forests, wineries, fresh produce and small producers of everything from beer and cider to cheese and alpacas.

The baby animal farm at Denmark

It did rain quite a lot (which was fine by us cos we’ve barely seen any for close to 10 years) so we focussed more on the food and drink and less on the walks along the beach.

Try keeping a 2 year old out of the surf just because it’s blowing an antarctic gale!

We stayed at a gorgeous place called Nutkin Lodge, just out of Walpole.

We woke up each morning to see kangaroos in the paddock outside our window and when we drove in each evening they hopped calmly out of the way of our car.

We had lunch on Saturday at the Denmark Brewery and Ale House. This place has one of the best views of any restaurant I’ve been to.

It sits part way up Mt Shadworth and looks over the stunning green hills and wild coastline around Denmark. The food wasn’t great but it wasn’t overly expensive either so the view made up for it.

It’s very easy to get attached to this area of Australia and it’s a little further away from Margaret River so it has a bit more of a laid back vibe. Of course it is the middle of winter. We may go back in warmer weather and find the hordes have descended there as well.

I hope not.
